Back in Underwriting….for the 4th time

Alright, so yesterday was another stupid fiasco. The mortgage company told us that “white out” was strictly forbidden on any paperwork. Mind you we filled out this paperwork multiple times, weeks ago. If they knew white out was not okay, why didn’t they tell us TWO WEEKS AGO?! So that had to be done, again, and they didn’t send the paperwork to be filled out for 3 hours, which meant that Justin was already home and did not have the capability to fax it AND it had to be filled out by his boss anyway.

They also needed new bank statements because they messed around for SO long that they needed to update.

On top of that, they had to have signed letters from people saying why Justin got paid early by his boss (so we could buy the house).

Finally, this morning, all the paperwork is back in and we are back in underwriting for the 4th time. On top of that, our agreement to close runs out tomorrow and they said there is a “slim chance” we can close tomorrow. Now they want to close on Thursday or whenever they decide it’s most convenient for them. So we’re going to have to redo our agreement with the sellers and hope they are okay with it.

Not only can we not buy our house, but the sellers can’t buy their house, which means the person selling them a house can’t sell their house. It’s a giant effing mess. Justin is to the point now where he can’t eat without getting sick because he can’t calm down and I’m pretty much dead from the neck down. On top of that, I had to call to cancel our electrical/gas service in 10 days. The sellers have the house for 14 days after we close and we have to move out of here in 10. Here’s hoping they are ready to go or else we’re homeless thanks to the mortgage company.

This is torture.

I think you both need a strong cup of catnip tea before bed tonight and do something relaxing.

    1. At this point, I think we both need to be shot with elephant tranquilizers.

  2. Oh I’m so sorry to hear this. I wish mortgage companies etc would remember that they aren’t doing their customers a favour by lending them money… The customers are PAYING (and heavily over the lifetime of the loan) for their service.
Fingers crossed in the old country for you both.

    1. Thank you. We’re pretty pooped by now, we should know more tomorrow.

  3. Pretty much exactly what Roe’s Cottage said. I’m sorry you’re having to go through all this!

    1. Thanks, hopefully we’ll have it figured out soon.

    1. Don’t worry, yours will probably go a lot smoother. Our experience is beyond typical at this point.
