Seed Saving Techniques

Well, I’ve been threatening you guys with this for a while. I’m currently in the process of learning seed saving techniques. I thought I would share a couple videos with you to get you started or maybe give you some new ideas! My favorite technique (for small seeds) so far is tying paper bags on stalks, letting it dry, then cutting the stalk and beating the bag on the ground to get the seeds. Love it.

Also, if you start seed saving, a huge thing to remember is to keep genetic diversity. That means collecting more seed from more plants and mixing them up before you plant them! Keep those heirlooms healthy! Also, it’s a HUGE money saver! A frugal homestead is a happy homestead!

Enjoy!
